What to know about Rossmoor
Explore Rossmoor
Rossmoor is a gated community in Walnut Creek, California, with a population of about 9,200. It was one of the first “active adult” communities for residents 55 years or older in the San Francisco Bay Area. Residents enjoy the security and the wide variety of amenities and activities that Rossmoor offers.
The Tice Creek Fitness Center is a full fitness and aquatic center that offers exercise programs for Rossmoor residents of all fitness and activity levels. From cardio and strength training equipment to Pilates and water aerobics classes, there’s something for everyone. If a round of golf is more your speed, Rossmoor is also home to two golf courses, providing 27 holes of NCGA-rated golf. Rossmoor’s golf services also include practice facilities and a full-service pro shop.
After playing 18 holes, or if a delicious meal and views of the golf course are more your speed, Creekside Grill & Bar is Rossmoor’s full service restaurant. A full bar and live music make it a favorite stop for Happy Hour, too.
For those who prefer to cook at home, Rossmoor hosts a certified farmers’ market on Fridays from May to October, where residents can buy fresh local produce. And if you’re looking for like-minded residents to share your favorite activity, whether it be cooking, or golf, or ceramics, or just about anything you can imagine, Rossmoor has over 200 clubs and organizations that foster a sense of community among its residents.

What to look at before you write
Diablo Valley homes can vary sharply by hillside setting, drainage, insurance profile, road access, and micro-neighborhood. Those details belong in the conversation early.
Drainage and disclosures
Review seller disclosures, drainage history, hillside conditions, and any creek or low-lying areas before deciding how aggressively to write.
Open space & fire context
Hillside and open-space-adjacent homes need insurance and defensible-space review, especially near Mt. Diablo and regional park edges.
Heat, smoke, and exposure
Summer heat, wildfire smoke, shade, and sun exposure can change how a home lives from one street to the next.
