Contra Costa County is one of nine counties that make up the San Francisco Bay Area. The county has one of the fastest growing work forces in the state and due to the availability of relatively high wage skilled and professional jobs, is consistently ranked high on a variety of income measurements. In recent years, fast economic development along the I-680 corridor has accounted for significant job creation in the cities of Walnut Creek, Concord and San Ramon.
